The short version: Kinetics keeps your data on your device. We don't have user accounts, we don't sell your data, and we don't use any advertising or analytics trackers. The only time your information leaves your phone is when you use an AI feature (workout generation, the coach chat, or food photo/text analysis) — that specific request is sent securely to our processing service and Google's Gemini AI to generate a response. Apple Health data is used only inside the app and is never sold or used for advertising.
This Privacy Policy explains how the Kinetics app ("Kinetics", "we", "us") handles your information. By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
Kinetics does not require an account. The information below is stored locally on your device unless otherwise noted.
Profile & training information you enter — such as your name, body weight, training goals, equipment, exercise preferences, logged workouts, and nutrition entries.
Apple Health (HealthKit) data — with your permission, the app reads heart rate, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep, step count, and active energy to estimate recovery and personalize training. It can also write completed workouts back to Apple Health. This data is accessed through Apple's HealthKit framework and processed on your device.
Food photos — if you use photo-based food logging, the image you choose is used to estimate nutrition (see "AI features" below).
Apple Watch data — during a workout, the companion watch app reads heart rate to display and log it.
Notifications — if you enable them, the app schedules local reminders (e.g., pre- and post-workout notes) on your device.
Kinetics does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs.
AI features and how data is shared
When you use an AI-powered feature — generating a workout, chatting with the coach, or analyzing food by photo or text — the relevant input for that request is transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our processing service, which forwards it to Google's Gemini API to generate the result. Depending on the feature, this input may include:
The message or food photo/description you submit;
Summaries of your recent training (e.g., recent exercises, weights, and progress) and, where relevant, recovery metrics, so the response can be personalized.
This data is processed only to fulfill your request and to generate the response shown in the app. It is not used to advertise to you, and it is not stored on our servers beyond what is needed to complete the request. Google's processing of API data is governed by Google's own terms; we encourage you to review Google's Gemini API terms.
The app also downloads a public, read-only exercise reference database (from a public GitHub repository) to display exercise information. No personal information is sent when retrieving this data.
How we use your information
To generate and personalize your training program and coaching.
To track your workouts, progress, and nutrition over time.
To estimate recovery and readiness from your health metrics.
To send the reminders and notes you've enabled.
Apple Health (HealthKit)
We take health data seriously. In accordance with Apple's requirements:
We use HealthKit data only to provide features within the app (such as recovery estimates and saving your workouts).
We do not use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing.
We do not sell HealthKit data or share it with third parties for advertising or data-mining purposes.
HealthKit data is not stored in iCloud by this app.
You can review or revoke the app's Health permissions at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health, or within the Apple Health app.
Data storage and retention
Your profile, workouts, and nutrition logs are stored locally on your device. You can erase this data at any time using Reset All Data in the app's settings, or by deleting the app. Deleting the app removes the data stored on your device. Workouts you chose to save to Apple Health remain in Apple Health until you remove them there.
Your choices
Health permissions: grant or revoke in the Settings or Apple Health app.
Camera/Photos: manage access in Settings → Privacy & Security.
Notifications: manage in Settings → Notifications.
Delete your data: use Reset All Data, or delete the app.
Security
Data sent for AI processing is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children's privacy
Kinetics is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
